Fogy & David – A Conversation Full of Wisdom.*

How many of these do you recognise and how many do you use?

One of Fogy's imaginary friends is David, an old soul, somewhat boring – in the general sense – but also someone who has a quiver full of gems that make general conversation interesting and challenging.

"Hey David, how are things hangin?"

"Great Fogy, and how about you?"

"Just got to tell you about an interesting experience I had recently! This guy comes up to me, tells me he's interested in one of my projects and is willing to invest big."

"Wow that's great. If I were you I'd strike while the iron's hot, get him under your belt immediately. You gotta make hay while the sun shines you know."

"You're right Dave, except I got another prospect also pushing to become involved."

"That's great Fogy, but it's first come, first served, right? Time is money and if you put it off until tomorrow who knows what can happen."

"Yep, I guess no risk, no reward. I hardly know the guy but I guess fortune favours the bold."

"Again, Fogy me old mate, you gotta make hay while the sun shines. Don't forget, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!"

"Never a truer word spoken. I just love talking to you. Give me a moment while I call him back?"

"Hold on a mo there Fogy. Have you thought this through? Like, if you fail to plan, you're planning to fail."

"And again you've hit the nail on the head. I've got to work smarter, not harder. I can do this later on after thinking it through better. What is it they say, measure twice, cut once?"

"Now you're thinking straight. So what would you like to do?"

"Let's get back to basics."

"Whoa there, you don't need to reinvent the wheel. If I know you as well as I think I do you've already got a plan in place. No basics for you!"

"True enough Dave, but without good preparation – by the time you're thirsty, it's too late to build a well!"

"Right again me old chum. Gotta go. It's been great chatting with you. Good luck with those prospects, just don't forget not to put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify, give them all a piece of the action if you can."

"Always sage advice David. Thanks again, see you around."

So, how many of these did you recognise and how many do you use?
